Lots and lots of teeth......

So, Jack was scheduled yesterday to have some dental work done-he has not been blessed with the best teeth! They did it at the hospital so they could put him under while they did it. Jack has major dental anxiety and the work that they had to do- pulling teeth, putting in a spacer, doing a crown, etc....was going to take 3-4 long visits at the dentist so Tim and I made the decision to just have them to it all at once to eliminate some of the stress on him-not on us though! They were initially supposed to pull four teeth- 3 of those to make room for his permanent teeth that were coming in. He lost two of them since the scheduling of the surgery (2 months ago) so we were expecting just two to be pulled. They came out during the surgery and showed us the x-ray they had just taken of his top teeth. The two top middle teeth were loose (we knew that) and we could see the huge permanent teeth right there. The dentist was recommending that we go ahead and pull all four on the top to make room. Jack had a very small mouth and they are trying to give the teeth room to come in and come in straight. So all in all six teeth were pulled!!

He is doing great today. I kept him home from school just because he hasn't moved around a whole lot but he is feeling great. The spacer that they had to put in (he had a reabsorbing root on one of his molars that fell out!) is bothering him the most but he just has to get used to it. He can't stop looking at himself in the mirror and is excited about the $10 the tooth fairy brought- he got a little bonus since it was such a traumatic day! He is learning how to talk and eat without all of those teeth. Here is a picture of our toothless guy!
